The 60943 Change Set of the source code now runs in a Web Role.  The documentation on what I did (so you can do it yourself if you need to) is in the documentation area: Convert the Existing MVC Project to Run in Azure

If you have any problems, let me know.

I have tried around 8 times to deploy this live to azure, but each time it hangs before finishing. I have the latest tools for Visual Studio 2010 and latest SDK.

I have done this on multiple days, both to production and test areas, all with same results. It runs fine within dev fabric.

Anyone care to offer troubleshooting ideas?

I'm having the same problem.  I'll try a few things to see if I can figure out why it is hanging.  Usually it's the copy local of a dll not set to true or something with the diagnostics data storage connection.

Here is a link that might help us: MVC2 WebRole with WCF Service stuck on Busy: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsazure/thread/140a9f65-96d8-4a2e-bc45-019ceb8f35c2

I spent some time using the Intellitrace features they recently added for debugging things in the cloud and eventually came up with a web.config and reference settings (had to set copy local on the Azure dll's) and now the solution should publish fine - though you will need to change the local storage account to a real storage account and use https.  I hopefully removed the credentials I used with my account :)

BTW: when I tested the deployment, I removed the blobs directory from the build - so I haven't verified how long or if a full deployment including the blobs directory works well or not.
